A makeup zone with a Hollywood mirror
The Make-up Room is a separate room at Lelewela 4, where the person in front of the camera gets ready calmly, without rushing and without travelling across town in finished makeup.
The station has a Hollywood mirror with perimeter lighting, the same setup makeup artists use in theatre and film. The light falls evenly from every side, so it casts no shadows and shows true skin and makeup colours. That means makeup done in the Make-up Room looks the same on set.
Wardrobe space and touch-ups
Next to the makeup station there is wardrobe space with rails and hangers, so you can lay out every outfit without creasing it. Power sockets handle a curling iron, straightener or hairdryer, and air conditioning keeps the temperature at a level where makeup holds.
During the shoot the Make-up Room works as your backstage: this is where you come back for an outfit change, a hair correction and touch-ups between looks. The room closes, so it also gives privacy for changing.
Who books it and for how long
The Make-up Room is booked most often by makeup artists working with a client, photographers planning portrait and personal-brand sessions, and crews shooting with several people in front of the camera.
When you plan the schedule, allow 45 to 60 minutes in the Make-up Room before the session itself. That is realistic time for makeup, settling in and final touch-ups, and it is what makes the shoot start on time.
